HEMA Events: Bellevue University - Gordon Lozier Athletic Center, 1000 Galvin Rd S, Bellevue, NE 68005

Fencing Events: Southeast Community College – Lincoln Campus, 8800 O St, Lincoln, NE 68520

(Competition takes place in the gym. Participants must park on North side of the building and enter through Entrance T-10.)


For HEMA events, longsword safety equipment will be based on steel. Rapier fencers are required to use a throat protector. Classic saber fencers are required to comply with epee safety requirements.

For all fencing events, USFA safety rules will apply. Sweat pants are allowed. Long pants required for epee. USFA membership not required.

Masks will be tested in all events.


Custom gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each division. Championship awards will be given to the winners of each mixed fencing event. Iron man/woman awards will be given to the man or woman placing the highest overall in all three fencing weapons.


Good behavior between all players, coaches, and supporters is mandatory in the State Games of America. Special sportsmanship awards will be presented on each day of the competition.

Team Competition

For the fencing team competition, teams will consist of three fencers of the same weapon. Teams will compete in a round-robin format. Only match wins will be recorded. To participate, register on-site by noon on the day of the event with $15 team fee (collected on site). Team events will begin immediately following the end of the last event of the day. Must be pre-registered in an individual event in order to enter a team event.


Age classifications are based on USFA rules.

Fencers are eligible to participate in more than one event.

Fencers are invited to compete with more than one weapon.

Residency Policy: The National Congress of State Games, the membership organization of the Cornhusker State Games, has recently amended its residency requirement to allow non-resident participation in State Games events by residents of states that have no State Games program and residents of states whose State Games program does not offer their sport of choice. The Nebraska Sports Council, in order to foster State Games interest in non-member states, has agreed to allow non-resident participation in a limited number of sports on this basis.

Age Limits

* HEMA fencers must be 18 or older

** Cadet fencers must be 13-17 years old.

*** The Wheelchair event is open to all ages and genders.


Depending on the number of participants, E & Under participants may fence in the Open division, but medals will be awarded as to their placement in the respective division. All equipment is provided. Youth fencers may compete up one age division. Tournament director reserves the right to combine or cancel divisions based on the number of entries.

Registration Fees & Deadlines

Discount Deadline

Discount Deadline: Monday, June 1

If Registered by the Discount Deadline:

First Event: $34 per participant

Additional Events: $10 per participant

Normal Registration

If Registered Between June 2 and July 1

First Event: $39 per participant

Additional Events: $10 per participant

Final Registration Deadline

Final Deadline: Wednesday, July 1

The final registration deadline for most sports is Wednesday, July 1. Some sports will accept late registrations with an additional $10 late fee.

Multi-Event Discount Note

If registering for multiple events, all entries must occur in the same transaction to receive the multi-event discount.
